Tiana Notice was killed on Valentine's Day in 2009, a month after getting a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, James Carter II, of Bloomfield. On Tuesday, he was found guilty of her murder and violating a restraining order.
On that February day two years ago, the Plainville woman pleaded with police to help her by enforcing a restraining order keeping Carter from contacting her.
Around 10 p.m., police received a call that Tiana had been stabbed several times. She was barely alive when police arrived and died two hours later at Hartford Hospital. It was just about a week after her 25th birthday.
Since Tiana was killed, her father, Alvin Notice, has fought for tougher penalities for people who violate restraining orders. He will also be fighting for his daughter in court as Carter's trial begins. He told NBC Connecticut that he will be testifying as Carter, 31, is tried, accused of stabbing Tiana to death.
Carter prviously turned down a deal for a 45-year prison sentence.
